EuropCorr Ladder Coupon & Holder

The Ladder Coupon Assembly is designed for larger pipelines where corrosion cannot be adequately monitored by a single pair of coupons. The holder typically carries two or three pairs of coupons per location, monitoring two or three positions at the same time (top, middle and/or bottom), which is important in multiphase systems where corrosion rates may not be uniform. Suitable for pipes over 6". Reinforced holders with different diameters are available on request.

Weight loss coupons are the simplest, least expensive and longest established method of estimating corrosion losses in operating systems. A coupon is a piece of metal of predetermined shape, size and surface area, usually of the same alloy as the monitored pipe or vessel; it is weighed, exposed to the process, cleaned and reweighed, and the weight loss is converted to a corrosion rate according to NACE RP0775, while visual examination shows pitting, scale and cracking.

EuropCorr coupon holders screw (left-hand thread) onto a Solid Plug and are used with both 2" high-pressure mechanical and hydraulic access systems, so coupons can be changed quickly without shutdown. Coupons are insulated from the holder; each coupon carries a unique serial number and is supplied with a certificate (serial number, weight to four decimal places, dimensions and material), individually packed in a moisture-resistant inhibited envelope with a one-year shelf life. Holder length is checked for wake frequency and stress according to ASME PTC 19.3.
